I live in the US and was told that a certain number of items were allocated for pre orders and launch. If pieces “sold out” in various waves of pre orders that items would go back into reproduction with an approximate 2-4 weeks lag time for delivery. I can’t imagine LV would leave millions of dollars on the table by not dropping items for non-preorder buyers.
@ items are popping back up in the system to order. My CA heard that LV was not expecting the level of interest there was with the highest Tier preorders, but to the best of his knowledge, all items are going back into reproduction. This preorder rounding is unlike anything “we’ve seen in recent years”. He reassured me not to fret and he had always come through for me.
I don't have a problem with LV's tier system for loyal customers because it affects 'when' you can get the bag, not 'if'. In order to manage costs and ensure quality, they can produce only so many at a time. I've always managed to get hard-to-find LV bags even if it took 6 months. I just had to be patient. Hermes' tier system, on the other hand, is not ok because they require pre-spend and I'm not willing to do that.
This launch was so ridiculous! Everyone should have had the opportunity to purchase if you wanted too. To me the tier system is just another phrase for “prejudice”. No matter what financial status you are-- the $$$ is the same!
I made my pre-order in late November. I could have ordered anything but ended up with the white multicolor Pochette Accessories and some SLG’s and toiletries. I almost regret that I ordered anything. This is very overpriced canvas items already from the store. The multicolor is fun but I’d feel awkvard carrying a big multicolor monogram bag. I own many bags I like a lot more. All the big luxury brands are experts at creating fake scarcity to trigger our FOMO. They want people to beg for their products and it’s sad to see them succeed again and again. It’s just good marketing. I’ve already decided to pass on the next Murakami drops. I’ll let others have them.
Omg right. At first I was like it’s so cute. Then I thought… it’s such a novelty. Also idk what people are on about? I was offered to pre order pieces and I’m NO VIP customer. I buy a bag maybe a year and some slgs sparingly…. Recently more into Prada and Ferragamo.
I imagine there will be a saturated market of very good couterfeits very soon, and people who really love one of the models (looking at you Alma BB) and who may well have preordered, opting for a fake. I'll not, but I wouldn't especially blame them.
@@HandbagDiva you see people with SUPER FAKES all the time on RUclips and they lie and say they bought them. You really are delusional And Wrong.... but that makes you feel better I'm sure.
@@yangkumahonestly I have been to a place that sold the good stuff and it could fool people. HOWEVER when you touched it, you knew it wasn’t the same. It wasn’t well made.
I asked my LV contact for a look book of these pieces and expressed my interest to buy. She said LV probably sent me an email with this information. I replied back to her that they have not. She said she will let them know. It’s been a month, and I’ve received no response. I refuse to go any further - it’s not worth that much at those crazy prices and bad customer service.
As someone who purchases in boutique and preloved and certainly not $100k a year it is disappointing- But it won’t ruin my life. LVMH should adjust their production after seeing how it sold in pre orders. They want/need to make money to keep the company successful. I’m not fighting for a piece. If it’s meant to be eventually I’ll get one. There are other items I am more interested in anyway
Deb, I appreciate that you bring the tough questions about luxury and the brands to the table for discussion! This is very interesting and from my perspective, the biggest concern is the different policies in each region that don’t seem fair. And I absolutely LOVE your sweater/jumper!!!❤❤❤
Overall I think multicolor monogram should be a standard offering alongside brown. And then save the other special artwork stuff as the actually limited collection
I just dont understand why pple HAVE TO HAVE a certain product???? i always say if u have money in your pocket u can get what you want and if they dont want to sell to u go somewhere else!!! lots of beautiful handbags out there...
Congratulations on your new LV handbag!😍 It’s so beautiful ❤️. So, to answer your question about VIP vs normal people. I’m not from the UK, but a few times a year when I grew up we always went to Harrods to dress up, and the service there was always wonderful. So when I had my eye on LV Murakami speedy in 2004, I went to Harrods and the SA there took out 5 or 6 bags to let me choose the one I preferred. The service there was amazing and I had no track record there and I don’t like the idea that you have to buy for a certain amount to be qualified. Just got my Speedy out and I think I might be using it again this spring.🥰 Keep up the good work I love your vlogs. Merry Christmas to you and your family xx 🥰
I’m in 🇨🇦 and what you said is true. If I don’t get a chance to preorder by a certain point, I can always save my 💵. Strange how I can tolerate the ‘scarcity game and pre spend’ from H but I can’t tolerate from LV 😅 Great job on the video ♥️
I had been offered to pre order in the US and I declined. That collection is not for me, not anymore. I am not a VIP and I had never been. A good customer? Yes I think we can say that. So I don’t know how it works really. Now do I think that people that are definitely very good clients somewhere should get priority? Yes, absolutely! It’s luxury, it’s not a need, it’s a want. These companies can reward their best customers as much as they want, it’s their choice. If we are not happy, we can always decide to not buy from them, it’s simple. I personally stopped buying from my Hermès boutique, I don’t like the way they do things. Nobody is forcing me to keep buying there. An other example, we have an history with Rolex and we have priority on certain watches while other people would wait way longer. Am I okay with it? Yes absolutely, we definitely had spent way more than the customer who just got through the door asking for a Daytona. I’m glad that for them, being a returning client over the years means something. Anyway, all of it to say that we can choose to partake or not.
I also declined the pre order because of the prices of the items! I think they’re comical. I just can’t justify it. Bought up some vintage murakami instead❤.
I’m in the U.K. too and like yourself I just contacted my SA to say I wanted a few bits and she sent me the look book and I made my order on that Monday morning was pretty relaxed I had no idea it was going to be a sell out so quickly! 😮
As someone who had very little spend in LV this year, i am fine with the tier system. Do i want something from the murakami collection? Absolutely. I've seen highly anticipated launches in other areas where fans barely got the chance because of resellers, and fans were frustrated. At least this way, there's a better chance that people who love it, have a chance first. there's no perfect system, but at least this makes sense.
Do you really think a company with flat or slumping sales is not going to make any more throughout the year? These will be available throughout the year. This is just the first run. LV needs a hit.
When I was. Buying my pieces back in the 90s I just walked into harrods or Bond Street, bought my Noe , speedy 35 a pouch key holder check book holder, no problems still have them all this is all very sad Deb 😢
I have not check with my SA although i love to have some pieces in my collection. I believed all these are based on which country one are in too and there are some countries that has less demand. Also depending on what item that the person intend to purchase. I believed the SLG may have a huge demand since that is so called "cheap" as compared to a bigger ticket item. I will see and if i have it, it is good but if not, is not meant to be. I do love the cherries murakami too so perhaps i will wait for that, although i wish to have some for each drop.
Honestly i was able to pre order 6 items and I dont see anything wrong with it. I am a diehard LV lover and I have had the same sales associate for the last 15 years. I even followed her when she moved stores. When she told me last year about the rumblings of Murakami being relaunched, she knows I am an insane multicolor Murakami collector and lover. I never resell my items, and she knows that. And just because I love one collection doesn’t mean I will have any interest in another, and I only buy what I truly love.
Personally- i do like the pre order system. To those top clients who purchase a lot why not give them first choice since they are so loyal to the brand? To me that’s part of the luxury experience the exclusivity and scarcity.
I do not think I will be buying anything from the new Murakami collection honestly. We were told about it and invited to pre order (in USA) and I just can’t stomach the prices for the pieces….it is canvas. I also find the vintage pieces more ornate!! My mom and I just started buying more of the vintage pieces because you know….the prices will certainly go up.
I think a portion should be available for VIPS and then the majority should be open to the public. I spend a fortune at LV but the speedy 25 in this collection was sold out. My SA was on the computer as soon as it opened and couldn’t get me the speedy. I did get the carryall and Rosalie. My SA said they may do another run of them. We will see.
Not surprisingly I think that any brand does need to recognise the customers who continually pump money into them, and that’s often by giving them early access. No different to concert tickets that go to sponsors for pre-sale like Amex pre-sale etc
I was at LV at the day the pre order opened, it was no hassle to order. But it demanded me to monitor the Boutique for when the launch started and nagg my SA. But with LV i dont trust i would get anything before it is in my hands as LV can cancel any order. I agree it is very stressful and maybe not worth it.
@ I would offer a pre-order online based on the customer ‘s sales history 😊 given that I don’t buy bags at stores I would probably never get offered any preorder items, however I believe it would be fair for the brand‘s fans 😊
But then people are accused of buying stuff in order to get a purchase history 🤔 so the ordinary person in the street that just wants to buy one bag or can only afford one bag would never be offered anything. It’s a really difficult one x
LV doesn't care because the pieces will all sell and people will continue to buy. And in any case, this is luxury and none of it is Need, just Want so fair is a bit relative. With that said, there may be some blowback and chatter and I am sure LV know that and are OK with it. This is just managing for their convenience.
As far as customer service-everyone should be treated equally. I am a regular client in my LV store. Not a VIP just regular and I was always treated exceptionally from day 1. As far as who gets the multicolor - I guess I do not like it enough to care. If it is only for 100+k spenders - so be it. It is companies decision and they are entitled to it. Same as the company I work for is entitled to its decision about the customers. Unfortunately or fortunately it is the description of the private property-whoever owns it (even it is publicly traded-it is owned by shareholders) is entitled to decide what to do.
@ they can, absolutely. And they probably do but there is a difference between being rude or discriminatory and not offering one of the products. At least in my head there is a difference. Not saying that I am right but this is how I see it.
This discussion about Louis Vuitton's tiered VIP system is so thought-provoking! It's fascinating how the exclusivity creates such a dynamic mix of loyalty, frustration, and admiration among customers. While I understand the appeal of building relationships with sales associates, I also feel that the system could alienate potential new customers who dream of owning these iconic pieces. For those who appreciate exceptional craftsmanship but face these barriers, I’ve seen alternatives like Lushentic grade handbags becoming increasingly popular. Their attention to detail and high-quality materials rival originals, offering an accessible way for more people to enjoy stunning designs. What’s your take on how these alternatives fit into the luxury world?
When I started to see the sold out comments for the multicolor collection online, I scrapped my plan to wait for the official lunch and bought a few vintage pieces instead. Not pleased with LV‘s approach on this launch. Very distasteful.
I had one SLG I wanted because I personally am not the kind of person that likes to carry loud bags. The chances of me getting said SLG are slim to none. It definitely puts me off. If LV doesn’t want our $ we certainly can spend it elsewhere! Those are my thoughts.
I spent a little over $20,000 this year at LV and my pre-order was cancelled. Mind you I paid debit, and it took 4 business days to get a refund for the order they sold me and then cancelled off me. Very turned off by the brand.
Writing as a non-VIP, no, it isn’t but if I was a VIP, I’d likely agree 😂. Tiers causing tears by the sounds of it 😉. It will sell out and then pieces will start to trickle through and by the time people are on to the next collection, Blossoms, Cherries, whichever, the Multicolore will likely be readily available. I’m happy to wait and if I miss out, I’ll buy this new collection 2nd hand further down the line because I think many people will tire of it quite quickly.
I think it’s totally fair for LV and other companies to offer things to their best customers first, but this first wave of Murikami is looking like a big hot mess. I think most people who placed a pre-order will be disappointed, either by a cancellation or a product of low quality that was rushed to be made. I’ve heard people say that their SA bumped them up a tier so that they could order, which doesn’t sound true or possible. 😅Sorry to be so pessimistic, but it just seems like LV preorders have been all over the place on this one, and I sense a lot of disappointment from customers on the horizon!! 😢
I have to admit that I feel pretty sour about not getting either of the bags that I wanted. I have a long history with LV, but apparently not good enough to order before they were sold out. I'm not sure that if there is a second drop I will be still interested. I contacted my SA long before the pre-orders but finally came to understand that I was not important enough. I don't have a good answer for how it should be done, I do think pre-orders should be available to everyone that follows LV. This was sloppy and disappointing.
I must admit the hype automatically means I'm not so interested. The multicolour is definitely not for me (now if they did it with midnight blue instead of black, I'd definitely take another look). The flower pieces are interesting, but I don't like the brown monogram, ditto the cherries. LV is generally not my brand, despite owning several scarves from them. I'm more drawn to Gucci, but only in certain colourways, and I own many more Gucci scarves than LV. Its more about the design rather than brand (or brand loyalty), if that makes sense But hey, each to his own; the old cliché of it being boring if we all liked the same things is so true!
I feel like customer service should be top tier for all shoppers. If you are purchasing from a store it should be an experience in luxury. This practice of offering to only top purchasers is very off putting and to me I will avoid purchasing from LV. I purchased Hermes preloved because I don’t like these games. I like a few of the SLGs but I will not play this game.
A client advisor from San Diego told me pre-order would be available on the 12th of December. I called, text, and emailed. She ghosted me and I have yet to hear back. 🙄
Let's all wait and see, 24 hours after placing my pre order I was offered a refund due to the system showing sold out. I opted to wait, well low and behold the SA tried again and it went through the next day. This is no guarantee but "most likely" I will received the goods. I haven't bought from LV since the last multi color collection so no status at all! The SA did tell me orders were way over LVs expectations. Hope everyone gets what they are after, I'm sure LV wants our money 😂
I think these bags should go to genuine buyers who love the brand Deb !! Ok flipping them is one thing but is lv going to monitor this , I have watched videos recently re Hermes they go directly from store with a Hermes 25 they bought for around £8000 and sell straight away for double 😮
I am so fed up with all of these games that these luxury stores play. We're not dogs and we shouldn't have to be a good boy, girl or customer. That implies that they're the boss and we must do what they say. In reality, the person with the money to spend on their overpriced items keeping them in business is the boss. If I find that a store is playing games with me or lying to me, I move on to another store or brand. Anyone should just be able to walk into a store and be able to buy whatever they're advertising or selling as long as it's in stock. I say this as a LV VIP. I think the UK is more used to class systems. I'm in Canada and don't believe in it. I was told today that LV does not do any limited edition items. They always restock. I can't believe that the Murakami collection is sold out. It is expensive for what it is and for the clientele that it would appeal to. I think it's all PR to create FOMO and boost sales.
It's more that they shouldn't advertise to the public if they can't get it. That just feels like false advertising and deception. Doesn't build a great perception of any brand imo.
Playing devils advocate- maybe they were surprised by the demand. They knew it was going to be big but needed to maybe be cautious in case of over production.
No. In the US, it doesn’t matter if you “have an SA” at LV. You had to be a celebrity or have spent over 100 K it seems. The essays I’ve worked with pretend they have no knowledge of the pre-sale for this collection.
I think it’s difficult for them to know exactly the demand so they do a slightly cautious production amount at first with crazy hyped marketing as they want it to sell out. Firstly so they are not left with unwanted stock and also so they keep creating a buzz. Then they will release more knowing a bit more about how much demand there has been.
Money is money, they “the brands” should stop being so fussy and sell to customers who want to buy their goods, because not everyone look’s at these brands and value’s them AKA not everyone thinks these brands are special or worth the money at all.

LV doesn't care because the pieces will all sell and people will continue to buy. And in any case, this is luxury and none of it is Need, just Want so fair is a bit relative. With that said, there may be some blowback and chatter and I am sure LV know that and are OK with it. This is just managing for their convenience.
I’m sure lv are actually happy about the frenzy - it all helps the marketing
As far as customer service-everyone should be treated equally. I am a regular client in my LV store. Not a VIP just regular and I was always treated exceptionally from day 1. As far as who gets the multicolor - I guess I do not like it enough to care. If it is only for 100+k spenders - so be it. It is companies decision and they are entitled to it. Same as the company I work for is entitled to its decision about the customers. Unfortunately or fortunately it is the description of the private property-whoever owns it (even it is publicly traded-it is owned by shareholders) is entitled to decide what to do.
Why don’t you extend your arguments to customer service? That a brand can decide who it wants to treat better. Who to treat worse?
@ they can, absolutely. And they probably do but there is a difference between being rude or discriminatory and not offering one of the products. At least in my head there is a difference. Not saying that I am right but this is how I see it.
Yes it’s true it’s the 17th and we still can’t order in Vancouver ,Canada.
Why is it like this?
Thank you. I find it very interesting to hear people’s points of view. X
If it’s this popular then what do we do when our pre-order come and there is problem with quality?(which happen quite often)
Let’s see how the quality is. Hopefully LV have got this covered
When I started to see the sold out comments for the multicolor collection online, I scrapped my plan to wait for the official lunch and bought a few vintage pieces instead. Not pleased with LV‘s approach on this launch. Very distasteful.
So many unhappy people
I had one SLG I wanted because I personally am not the kind of person that likes to carry loud bags. The chances of me getting said SLG are slim to none. It definitely puts me off. If LV doesn’t want our $ we certainly can spend it elsewhere! Those are my thoughts.
Yep we have the power to make our decision to buy elsewhere
I spent a little over $20,000 this year at LV and my pre-order was cancelled. Mind you I paid debit, and it took 4 business days to get a refund for the order they sold me and then cancelled off me. Very turned off by the brand.
Oh that’s not good
Writing as a non-VIP, no, it isn’t but if I was a VIP, I’d likely agree 😂.
Time will tell. Will be interesting.
I think LV only allows you to purchase six items a year in USA. Prob because of resellers.
Wow
P9 was done this way. They wouldnt sell it to me until they saw my purchase history.
Wow
It feels like LV is just continuously alienating folks. At some point we will just lose interest altogether - if we haven’t already.
I’m in Ireland and still waiting to pre-order 😖
Oh no!
So many people unhappy x
Ooh a midnight blue would be right up my street!
It’s not good is it?
@@WildunfilteredI’m not really surprised but I’d rather her be upfront with me instead of ignoring me.
@ completely. No excuse for radio silence!
I’m sure these is shady stuff going on with the re-sellers..
There def has to be!
I’m sure new releases will come x
This seems very Hermes like😕 I couldn’t even preorder perfume, my SA said it’s not available yet to preorder.
Wow
I think these bags should go to genuine buyers who love the brand Deb !! Ok flipping them is one thing but is lv going to monitor this , I have watched videos recently re Hermes they go directly from store with a Hermes 25 they bought for around £8000 and sell straight away for double 😮
It happens a lot
They def have marketed it in a certain way. It will be interesting to see how many hit the resale market once it’s released
I do believe in first comes first. If you have the number of an SA, you are quicker. 😅
No. In the US, it doesn’t matter if you “have an SA” at LV. You had to be a celebrity or have spent over 100 K it seems. The essays I’ve worked with pretend they have no knowledge of the pre-sale for this collection.
The spend is within rolling 12 month period
Wow. Thanks for the info. $100k is a LOT of bags!
It’s far too expensive for what it is. They can shove it where the sun don’t shine!
Oh goodness!!! 😂
The resellers buy a lot so they’re high dollar clients frequently.
True x
I must be the only one in the world who think this new line looks like knockoffs for some reason. It looks nothing like the originals.
🤔
Y’all there’s nothing special about this design 😂😂 it’s just hype and the white color will yellow overtime
Lots of people love it x
Just marketing. In my country, i can simply order before dec 2 😁 n im not even VIP.. just walked in
Can I ask where you are based? X
@ Malaysia ☺️🤍
Should be 1st come 1 st serve. They should make enough for demand. IMO ❤
Maybe LVMH is actually buying up these pieces to sell on 2nd hand market at hyped up crazy prices, just a thought?
Ooh interesting!
I don't see why a tier system is in place. Everyone's money spends the same.
They should in theory but the people spending big bucks will expect
Money is money, they “the brands” should stop being so fussy and sell to customers who want to buy their goods, because not everyone look’s at these brands and value’s them AKA not everyone thinks these brands are special or worth the money at all.
Money talks
🎄🎄🎄
Hype
Good thing I’ve always hated the mirokomi collection…so I don’t give a crap about the new collection 😅
Saves the ££££
They are doing you a favor, this collection is so tacky.
🙈
And as far as how much I have spent - I only bought what I loved to use it and if it does not qualify me for a preorder-who cares?:)
